3 Steps to Certainty
The Center for Human Genetics und Laboratory Diagnostics conducts family relationship DNA analyses entirely under medical supervision and by experienced personnel. The samples are analyzed by qualified scientists.
Material from which the hereditary material DNA can be isolated is required for the analysis. Family relationship DNA analyses conform to the German Gene Diagnostics Act (GenDG).
First of all, please download the required forms, found under the Downloads link. You, all other persons to be examined, and as the case may be, their legal representatives should carefully read all forms. Please note that only completed and signed test requests (Form A) can be processed, likewise a completed and signed information and consent (Form B), additionally, a completed and signed record of sample collection and proof of identity (Form C) must be attached.
Please fill in Forms A and B, Form C should be completed together with the person taking the sample (e.g. your physician).
All three forms must be signed with place and date!
The samples must be taken by a neutral, appropriately qualified and experienced person. The sampling can take place in-house or be done by a physician in your vicinity. Suitable qualified and neutral people include employees of a Youth Welfare Office or health authority, provided that they have mastered the sample collection technique. You, a related party or an unqualified person are not permitted to carry out sample collection. Should you wish sample collection to be carried out by us in-house, please contact us in advance. For external sample collection, please inquire in advance about possible additional charges.
Official identity documents must be provided by all persons involved at the time of sampling. For minors, a copy of the birth certificate or a copy of an official letter providing evidence of custody must be included in the documents.
Either two correctly labeled blood samples (1 ml each) or 2 buccal swabs are required from each test person. For paternity tests, two of each type of sample are required to guarantee an independent check of results.
Samples collected externally should be labelled with surname, forename and date of birth and sent by the sampler, together with the completed, signed forms, by post to the following address:

The results are available within 10-14 working days from receipt of the sample together with complete documentation. An invoice will be sent on completion of the analysis and the report will be sent immediately on receipt of payment. The report can be sent either to the person ordering the test and copied to all persons tested or their legal representatives (recommended), or to the orderer alone. Please note that pursuant with the German Civil Code (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch, BGB) Section 1598a, Paragraph 4, all people tested have a legal right to receive a copy of the family relationship test report.
